New Regulations

From January 2005, there have been major changes in the Dangerous
Goods Training regulations including:
- 91 UN Numbers reflecting
changes ito the List of Dangerous
Goods,
- security measures,
- sequencing of information,
- documentation,
- marking & labelling
- and many
other items.

SRC
/ VHF Radio
Certification
Course (1 Day)
This course is approved by the Royal
Yachting Association and is designed
for those personnel on and offshore who
use a SRC/VHF
Radio for communications.
You are required by Law under the Radio
Telegraphy Act of 1942 that all vessels
fitted with radio equipment must have
a valid Ship Radio Licence.
To maintain operational standards and
to ensure knowledge of Distress emergency
and Safety procedures a maritime radio
may only be operated by a holder of the
appropriate Certificate of Competence
and Authority to operate.
Delegates are required to sit an examination
set by the UK Royal Yachting Association
and a minimum pass mark of 80% is required
to be obtained.
Course content:
• Requirements and Regulations.
• Management of the Maritime Mobile Band.
• GMDSS.
• Marine VHF and Digital Selective Calling
Equipment.
• Navtex, EPIRBs and SARTs.
• Routine Procedures.
• Distress Procedures.
• Urgency, Safety and Coastguard Liaison.
• The Phonetic Alphabet.
• Practical exercises using a radio station
simulator.
This course is delivered over one day
and includes practical simulated scenarios.
The course is conducted at our training
centre in Aberdeen.
